Soft & Spiced Apple Butter Cookies You’ll Bake Again and Again

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup apple butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Mix in apple butter until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing just until combined. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls onto prepared sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are set but centers look soft. Cool 5 minutes on tray, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
