  • 1 cup dill pickle juice
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • For the Coating:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • For Frying:
  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine pickle juice and buttermilk. Add chicken strips and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best flavor).
  2. In one bowl, whisk the egg. In another bowl, mix flour, powdered sugar, and all seasonings.
  3. Remove chicken from marinade. Dip each strip into egg, then coat in seasoned flour. For extra crispiness, repeat for a double dredge.
  4. In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry chicken in batches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp 165°F).
  6. Place on a wire rack to drain excess oil and keep crispy.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
