Easy and nutritious chicken and broccoli nuggets perfect for baby-led weaning and meal prep. These soft, baked or pan-fried nuggets are made with simple ingredients and are suitable for babies 7 months and older.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250g chicken breast, chopped (or ground chicken)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets, steamed until soft
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or oat flour for gluten-free)
  • 1/4 cup finely grated cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for baking or pan-frying)

Instructions

  1. Steam Broccoli: Cook florets until soft, about 5–7 minutes. Drain and let cool slightly.
  2. Blend Mixture: In a food processor, combine broccoli, chicken, egg, breadcrumbs, cheese (if using), and garlic powder. Pulse until combined but still slightly chunky.
  3. Shape Nuggets: Scoop about 1 tablespoon of mixture, shape into nuggets or patties, and place on a lined tray.
  4. Bake or Pan-Fry: Bake: Brush with olive oil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway. Pan-fry: Cook in skillet with olive oil, 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
  5. Cool & Serve: Ensure nuggets are soft and safe to chew before serving to babies.

Notes

  • Introduce from 7 months; mash for younger babies.
  • Avoid adding salt or strong spices—keep baby-safe.
  • Perfect for BLW: easy to grip, moist, and soft inside.
  • Freeze cooked nuggets up to 2 months; reheat before serving.
  • Adjust texture by pulsing mixture less for chunkier nuggets.
