  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Neutral cooking oil (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground chicken, egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  2. With damp hands, form mixture into small nugget shapes and place on a lined tray.
  3. Lightly coat each nugget on all sides.
  4. Whisk flour, onion powder, garlic powder, and cold water until smooth.
  5. Dip each nugget into batter, letting excess drip off.
  6. Freeze nuggets for 30–60 minutes to set coating.
  7. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry nuggets in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  9. Drain on paper towels or a wire rack and serve hot.
