A comforting chicken noodle casserole made without canned soup, packed with tender chicken, egg noodles, and creamy homemade sauce.

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 oz egg noodles, cooked
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet and sauté onion until soft.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually stir in chicken broth and milk until smooth.
  6. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened.
  7. Combine sauce, chicken, and noodles in a baking dish.
  8. Top with cheese and breadcrumbs.
  9. Bake for 25 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
