Scale
2 sheets All-Butter Pie Crust
1 Egg (for egg wash, optional)
1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (for filling)
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 cup Whole Milk
1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Salt
1 tbsp Cornstarch or All-Purpose Flour
1 cup Powdered Sugar (for glaze)
1/4 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (for glaze)
1–2 tbsp Milk (or cream, for glaze)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract (for glaze)
Sprinkles (Optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Fudge Filling by combining cocoa powder, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan. Whisk in milk and heat until thickened. Add butter and vanilla, then cool in the refrigerator.
Prepare the Pastry Dough by preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C) and cutting the pie crust into rectangles.
Assemble the Pop Tarts by placing fudge filling on half of the rectangles, sealing with the other half, and crimping the edges.
Brush the tops with egg wash and prick with a fork.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
Prepare the Glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Glaze the cooled Pop Tarts and add sprinkles if desired.
Notes
Chill the fudge filling for best results.
Use store-bought crust for quicker preparation.
Customize the glaze with additional flavors if desired.
