Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (1 ounce) package taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream, for garnish (optional)
  • 1 avocado, sliced, for garnish (optional)
  • Salsa, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and onion; cook, breaking beef into crumbles, until browned and onion is softened (8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  2. Stir in diced tomatoes (undrained), taco seasoning, and water. Simmer over low heat for 5-7 minutes, or until sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper. Let cool slightly.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a large baking sheet.
  4. Unroll crescent roll dough onto baking sheet; press seams together to form a rectangle. Prick dough all over with a fork.
  5. Spread cooled taco meat evenly over crescent roll crust, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  6. Sprinkle with cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool slightly before slicing.
  8. Garnish with desired toppings (green onions, sour cream, avocado, salsa).
  9. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
  • Adjust spice level by adding cayenne pepper or jalapeños.
  • Substitute ground beef with black beans or lentils for a vegetarian option.
  • Experiment with different cheeses, vegetables, and crescent roll dough types.
  • For individual pizzas, use muffin tins.
