Double Crunch Honey Garlic Chicken is ultra-crispy, double-dredged fried chicken coated in a sticky homemade honey garlic glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded or sliced into cutlets)
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying (canola or vegetable)
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or rice vinegar)
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness or slice into thin cutlets.
  2. Place cornstarch in one bowl, whisk eggs and water in a second, and mix flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, paprika, and pepper in a third.
  3. Coat chicken in cornstarch, dip in egg, coat in flour, then repeat egg and flour for extra crunch.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Drain on a wire rack.
  5. Simmer honey, soy sauce, garlic, vinegar, and red pepper flakes for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Drizzle or brush honey garlic sauce over chicken just before serving.
