Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 8 tortillas
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.
  2. Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and fully cooked, stirring occasionally. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in 1/4 cup of honey, 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 2-3 minutes on low heat until heated through and slightly thickened.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Warm 8 tortillas for about 30 seconds until pliable, either in the skillet or microwave.
  6. Assemble the tacos by spooning the beef mixture onto each tortilla. Drizzle with the prepared taco sauce and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, substitute olive oil for butter.
  • If fresh garlic is unavailable, garlic powder can be used as a substitute.
  • Ground turkey or plant-based meat can be used instead of ground beef.
  • Agave syrup can be used as a vegan alternative to honey.
  • Greek yogurt can be substituted for mayonnaise in the taco sauce for a healthier alternative.
  • Omit cilantro if you are not a fan, or substitute with chopped green onions.
  • Corn or flour tortillas can be used depending on preference.
  • Feel free to substitute cheddar cheese with any cheese of your choice or omit it for a dairy-free option.
