A traditional German cabbage salad, known as Krautsalat, made with fresh cabbage and a tangy dressing.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the cabbage thinly and place it in a large bowl.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, mix vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and mix well.
  5. Add oil and caraway seeds, then toss to combine.
  6. Let the salad sit for at least 30 minutes before serving.
