Mayak Eggs are soft-boiled eggs marinated in a savory-sweet soy sauce mixture. They are perfect over rice, noodles, or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • ½ cup soy sauce (regular or low sodium)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 red chili or jalapeño, sliced (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Gently add eggs and boil for 6–7 minutes for jammy yolks.
  2. Transfer eggs immediately to an ice bath and cool for 5–10 minutes. Peel carefully.
  3. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, water, sesame oil, sugar or honey, garlic, green onions, and chili slices.
  4. Place peeled eggs in an airtight container and pour marinade over until fully submerged.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve over rice, noodles, or enjoy as-is.
