Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Thick-cut bacon
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 log Goat cheese (4 or 8-ounce)
  • 1 loaf Baguette
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • Maple syrup, honey, or hot honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place an oven-safe rack on top.
  2. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and optional red pepper flakes with a splash of water to form a sticky mixture.
  3. Coat both sides of each bacon slice generously with the sugar mixture. Place coated bacon on the prepared rack.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes. Flip the bacon and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove bacon from the oven and place on paper towels to cool and absorb excess grease.
  6. Increase oven temperature to 425°F (220°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick pieces.
  7. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet, brush lightly with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Bake crostini for 7-10 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  9. Gently press the cooled bacon pieces into the goat cheese log. Garnish with extra bacon if desired.
  10. Drizzle with maple syrup, honey, or hot honey.
  11. Serve the Million Dollar Bacon Goat Cheese Appetizer Log on a platter with the crispy crostini.

Notes

  • Use high-quality, thick-cut bacon for the best crispiness and flavor.
  • Ensure the sugar mixture evenly coats the bacon for perfect caramelization.
  • Monitor the bacon closely during baking to prevent burning.
  • Allow bacon to cool on paper towels to maintain crispness.
  • Crostini can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
  • For best results, reheat leftovers in the oven to restore bacon crispiness.
