This Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread combines juicy steak, caramelized peppers and onions, and layers of melted provolone and mozzarella on a crusty bread base.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf crusty Italian or French bread, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 lb ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook onions and bell peppers for 7–10 minutes until soft and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook sliced steak over high heat for 2–3 minutes until just browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place bread halves cut-side up on baking sheet. Spread lightly with mayonnaise if using.
  5. Layer steak evenly over bread, top with peppers and onions, then add provolone slices and shredded mozzarella.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil 1–2 minutes for a golden finish.
  7. Slice into portions and serve warm.
