These Pumpkin-Shaped Sliders are festive, fun, and delicious—soft dinner roll “pumpkins” filled with savory meats, cheeses, or fall spreads. Perfect for Halloween parties, Thanksgiving gatherings, or cozy autumn dinners. They offer a whimsical twist on fall-themed appetizers, making any gathering instantly seasonal and appealing to all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package store-bought dinner roll dough (Rhodes, King’s Hawaiian, etc.), thawed
  • Butcher’s twine or cooking-safe string
  • Olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Pretzel sticks or celery stems (optional, for pumpkin stems)
  • For the Fillings (choose your favorite):
  • Turkey, cranberry sauce, & Swiss cheese
  • Pulled BBQ chicken with cheddar
  • Ham & honey mustard (or turkey for pork-free)
  • Roasted veggies & pumpkin hummus
  • Buffalo chicken & ranch drizzle
  • Cranberry cream cheese & arugula

Instructions

  1. Thaw & Prepare: Let dough rolls thaw and rise slightly until soft and puffy.
  2. Tie the Rolls: Cut 4–5 oiled twine pieces per roll. Wrap each dough ball loosely to form pumpkin sections.
  3. Egg Wash & Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush rolls with egg wash. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden.
  4. Cool & Stem: Snip and remove twine. Insert a pretzel stick or celery stem for the pumpkin “stem.”
  5. Slice & Fill: Cut rolls in half and add desired fillings to make sliders.

Notes

  • Don’t tie twine too tight—leave room for dough to rise.
  • Egg wash gives rolls a golden finish—don’t skip it.
  • Oil the twine to prevent sticking.
  • Prep fillings ahead to save time for entertaining.
  • Overfilling may cause sliders to fall apart—keep it balanced.
