Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 package of wonton wrappers (about 40 wrappers)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying or brushing
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Hot sauce, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until the chicken is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once the chicken is cooked, stir in the chopped cabbage, sliced green onions, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cabbage is slightly wilted and everything is well combined.
  4. Take a wonton wrapper and place a spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper over to create a triangle, and press to seal. Repeat this step until all filling is used up.
  5. For cooking, heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat for frying, or preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for baking. For frying, add the wontons in batches and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. For baking, arrange the wontons on a cookie sheet, brush lightly with oil, and bake for about 15-20 minutes until crispy.
  6. Once cooked, remove the wontons from the oil or oven and let them drain on paper towels. Serve them warm, garnished with fresh cilantro and a side of hot sauce for dipping.
