This Spicy Christmas Cranberry Jalapeno Dip is a delightful twist on traditional holiday flavors, blending the tartness of fresh cranberries with the spicy kick of jalapenos. It’s a festive dish that will have your guests coming back for more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup frozen cranberries (if out of season)
  • 2 fresh jalapenos
  • 1 green bell pepper (optional substitute)
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 8 oz low-fat cream cheese or Greek yogurt (optional substitute)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup coconut yogurt or cashew cream (optional substitute)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional substitute)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup parsley (optional substitute)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cranberries: If using fresh cranberries, rinse them under cold water and remove any stems or blemished berries. If using frozen, thaw and drain well.
  2. Chop the Jalapenos: Slice the jalapenos in half, remove the seeds for less heat if desired, and finely chop them.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the cream cheese, sour cream, chopped jalapenos, and cranberries. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  4. Add Spices: Sprinkle in the cumin, chili powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir until everything is evenly distributed. Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary.
  5. Incorporate Fresh Herbs: Fold in the chopped cilantro (or parsley) for that fresh flavor boost.
  6. Chill the Dip: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
  7. Serve: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. You can garnish it with additional cilantro and some whole cranberries for a festive touch. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh veggies.

Notes

  • This dip tastes better after chilling for a while.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding or reducing jalapenos.
