1 loaf brioche or challah bread (about 14 oz), cut into 1-inch cubes
8 oz cream cheese, softened and cubed
1½ cups fresh strawberries, sliced
8 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
½ cup heavy cream
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Powdered sugar, for topping (optional)
Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer half the bread cubes in the dish. Scatter cream cheese cubes and half the strawberries on top. Add remaining bread.
Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
Pour custard evenly over bread. Press gently to soak. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake 25–30 minutes until golden and set.
Cool slightly. Top with remaining strawberries, powdered sugar, and maple syrup.
