- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1 large onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 cup chicken broth
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Rinse turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
- Mix melted butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and rosemary in a bowl.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey.
- Place onion, carrots, and celery in the bottom of a roasting pan.
- Put turkey on top of vegetables and pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Cover with foil and roast for 3 hours.
- Remove foil and roast for another 1-1.5 hours until golden brown.
- Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
