  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 large onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Rinse turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Mix melted butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and rosemary in a bowl.
  4. Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey.
  5. Place onion, carrots, and celery in the bottom of a roasting pan.
  6. Put turkey on top of vegetables and pour chicken broth into the pan.
  7. Cover with foil and roast for 3 hours.
  8. Remove foil and roast for another 1-1.5 hours until golden brown.
  9. Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
