  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (280g)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (5g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (2g)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (226g), softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml)
  • 1/4 cup milk (60ml)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Beat softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract, and beat until combined.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined. Add milk and mix until dough comes together.
  5. Roll dough to about 1/8-inch thick on a floured surface. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
  6. Place cookies on the baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set. Allow to cool.
  7. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool. Decorate with frosting, sprinkles, or edible glitter as desired.
