Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Edible glitter or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F (93°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites until frothy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Mix in vanilla extract and green food coloring until well combined.
  6. Transfer meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  7. Pipe meringue onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in the shape of Christmas trees.
  8. Bake for 1.5 hours or until dry and crisp.
  9. Let cool completely before decorating with edible glitter or sprinkles.
